Reconnection is the Revolution

My story

Noa’ia! I’m Emeli Paulo, and I’m all about shaking things up as a force for creative leadership and cultural transformation in Australia. With over 25 years of diving deep into storytelling, social change, and human-centered design, I’ve had the privilege of crafting experiences that have touched over a million lives.

I grew up in suburban Hallam, Victoria, navigating the complexities of my mixed heritage. As an Anglo-Saxon descendant and a proud Rotuman, my early years were a rollercoaster of identity. The subtle — and not-so-subtle — racism I faced ignited a fire within me to stand up for what’s right. I’ve always owned my roots and the resilience that comes from them, drawing strength from my Polynesian heritage which celebrates independence and community.

Life has thrown some serious challenges my way, from grief and trauma to exploring my identity. But each struggle has been a teacher, showing me the immense power of connection and belonging. I’m passionate about creating safe spaces where everyone can share their stories and feel valued—because let’s face it, we all deserve that.

Over the years, I’ve designed and delivered more than 10,000 workshops, trained over 2,000 facilitators, and teamed up with 500+ organisations to build braver, more inclusive cultures. From arenas filled with 15,000 change-makers to intimate leadership circles, I strive to bridge deep emotional intelligence with systems thinking. My mission? To create environments where people and ideas can truly transform.

I’m also the co-founder of SoCo Collective, a decentralised agency that’s flipping the script on how businesses approach diversity, wellbeing, and impact. Before that, I led Collective Potential, a game-changing social enterprise that empowered tens of thousands through inclusive coaching, experiential learning, and community healing. And yes, I’ve even had the pleasure of chatting backstage with global icons like Oprah and hanging out on Sir Richard Branson’s Necker Island - experiences that remind me of the magic that happens when we come together.

At the core of my work is the drive to “break the cycle” of systemic oppression. I’m all about equipping individuals and organisations with the tools to understand themselves and their impact, paving the way for a more equitable and just society.

So, whether I’m leading culture change, producing large-scale social impact events, or hosting intimate workshops, I meet every moment with fierce empathy, strategic brilliance, and a whole lot of soul. Let’s embark on this journey together, navigating the path toward a vibrant community that thrives on connection, creativity, and empathy.
